Strapping the carrot onto her head, she proudly shows of her new "horn" to her best friend, Otis. Suddenly, a truck carrying pink paint and glitter overturns at the sight of Thelma and her horn. She becomes covered from head to hoof in pink and sparkles.
Her life is turned upside down when the media mistake her for a real unicorn. Thelma loves all of the attention. But she soon discovers that the fame she longed for is not what she had expected.
This is one of my new favorite children's books! Blabey's storytelling is simply amazing. I love that the story is also in rhyme. I believe that children and adults alike will sympathize with Thelma when she realizes that getting everything she wished for may not be what she truly needs.
Blabey's characters are authentic and hilarious. I fell in love with Thelma on page one. She is definitely one driven equine. Her antics are glamorous as well as heartfelt.
The illustrations are amazing. Children will be drawn in by the big and bold pictures. There are even subtle additions that adults are sure to recognize and chuckle at.
This is a fantastic book for readers of all ages.
