Brandishing a candelabra to combat the darkness, the friends embark on their journey. When they reach the Chupacabra's house, the group is shocked when the Chupacabra sneaks out of the night and eats the candelabra. He soon requests another one.
The goats are terrified and fear that since they have no more candelabras, the Chupacabra will eat them! They race back home in search of more candelabras only to discover that they are not alone. The Chupacabra has followed them! And he is still hungry...
I absolutely adore this book! Nobleman's characters are full of humor and heart. The story reminds me of the Three Billy Goats Gruff with a Hispanic twist.
Ana Aranda's illustrations are truly breathtaking. The characters that she has created are adorable. I also love the color palate she used. The scene where the sun is setting and the sky is a mixture of pink, orange, and purple is captivating. I also love the hilarious hidden gems within the illustrations (such as the Chupacabra stretching when the sun begins to set). Children will be definitely be mesmerized by the beautiful scenes on each page.
This is a wonderful story for readers of all ages. Young and old alike will delight in this cultural tale of fantasy and fun.
